Secondary education abroad is an opportunity for students to obtain a high quality secondary education and enhance their talents in the chosen field. Secondary education abroad is beneficial in many ways. The most important thing is that the education system abroad was formed over decades or even centuries, which makes it more consistent and filled with tradition. Secondary education is characterised by high quality, where theory is inseparable from practice and each child receives individual attention. Moreover, a very broad and interesting range of extracurricular activities is offered to young people. For example, the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Switzerland, France or Australia offer particularly high quality secondary education with certain specialisations in athletic or artistic activities. Students obtain a full range of skills by combining academic studies with different extracurricular activities.
egoPERFECTUS also offers exchange programmes for secondary education abroad. This offer is perfect for those who want to improve their foreign language skills and to know the chosen country better by studying there for one trimester, semester, or the entire academic year. Exchange programmes abroad provide the right conditions to improve the knowledge and skills of the chosen foreign language, as well as to discover a new country and its culture. It is also a great opportunity to develop independence and find new hobbies.
Experience gained in a secondary school abroad will definitely boost the future career. The exchange programme provides an opportunity to visit another culture: a teenager has a chance to know and evaluate themselves in another socio-cultural context. This experience changes the way of thinking, the perception of past and present environment; develops independence and realistic approach to life. A young person, encouraged by the foreign education system, recognises his needs and desires, learns how to make the most of his abilities. He purposefully seeks to advance his position in the academic and personal sectors. After finishing school, this helps to choose the appropriate occupational area and successfully pursue a career.
The egoPERFECTUS experts, having deep expertise and years of experience, apply the original egoMAPPING methodology when advising on the issues concerning the secondary education abroad. This technique helps to discover the needs, analyse possible options and make the final decision when choosing a high school. Only the schools that meet certain qualitative criteria and represent high educational quality are included in the list of schools offered by egoPERFECTUS. These schools only employ professional educators and provide many extracurricular opportunities.
The parents of a tenth-grader Dominykas were very concerned about their child’s future. They wanted to give Dominykas opportunities to learn and improve; what is more, they wanted him to be a motivated teenager. However, Dominykas was quite inactive, it seemed that he did not care about his future. He found the school boring and had no interests other than programming. Therefore, the majority of his time was spent in front of the computer playing games, programming. The parents approached egoPERFECTUS hoping to find ways that would motivate the teenager to learn or engage in the extracurricular activities and grow as a person.
The egoPERFECTUS, using the egoMAPPING methodology, analysed the parental expectations in relation to Dominykas. This was followed by consultations with Dominykas involving a teenagers’ psychologist. According to the needs of the parents and the teenager, a half-year exchange programme in the US in a particular New York high school, which had a broad range of extracurricular activities related to the IT field, was suggested. Half a year later, Dominykas returned completely transformed. His English and social skills were improved; he became more open, communicative, independent, and his cultural horizons expanded. The boy made friends in New York, the place that can be hostile at the best of times. Dominykas even discovered a new hobby, basketball. But most importantly, after returning to Lithuania, his interest in programming languages began to intensify, and he even began to think about professional aspects of the IT sector. His academic achievements improved, he became less shy, had more motivation and even came to realisation that the time spent playing computer games could be used much more productively.
Domantas comes from a family of Lithuanian businessmen and is a particularly talented outdoor tennis player. Having started his training at the age of 5, he made a tremendous progress. According to his coaches his fine physique, hard work and passion to play made him a very promising sportsman. However, exercise and sport took almost all of the boy’s time and had a negative impact on his academic performance. When his parents approached egoPERFECTUS, they claimed they attempted to achieve and sustain the balance between the two activities of Domantas, i.e. sports and science. egoPERFECTUS, using the egoMAPPING methodology, established the psychological type of the boy, evaluated his aspirations and desires and then selected the best-suited gymnasiums from all around the world.
The main criterion was to find a gymnasium of a high academic level that would have a good outdoor tennis team, excellent infrastructure and qualified coaches. The family was offered a great school in New Zealand, which was focused on tennis players. Everything was adapted to outdoor tennis in this establishment; moreover, both areas were combined with each other, so sport did not preclude learning, and learning did not exist at the expense of sports. In this school, everything was balanced in a way that students could develop their targeted abilities. While studying in the gymnasium of New Zealand, Domantas continued to successfully improve as a tennis player, and not only did he acquire new skills, but also his academic achievements improved and his motivation to learn rose. Suitable conditions enabled him to reconcile sport with academic activities and achieve good results in both areas.
